Just yesterday, she alerted hubby to the presence of a diamond back rattler (a big one) in our garage. Thankfully, nobody got bit. She's a stray that somebody dumped near our home. I was teaching when my wife and our friend, Caroline, decided to start Caravan Beads. A year later I was trying to run a business in the early morning and evenings, and teach elementary school in between. Like you I remember thinking that I needed to choose Caravan or teaching cause there weren't enough hours in the day to do both.
